Protruding or "outstanding" ears can be very noticeable and can be a source of self-consciousness or teasing. An otoplasty procedure can change the shape, prominence, and proportions of the ear so that they have a more natural shape and are less noticeable. This procedure can correct the prominence or shape of the ear that is present at birth or caused by injury.
The incisions are behind the ears and become well concealed once the ears are folded back.
If addressed during youth (before 16 years), this procedure may be covered by MSP.
